WILL 2012 BE THE YEAR IT ALL ENDS?

Have you heard?  2012 may be the year it all ends.  No, not the world, just my home exchange career.

2012 might be the year we stop doing home exchange.  We are moving to a much larger apartment in June, but one that comes with a feature most exchangers won't appreciate -- a live-in elderly relative for whom we will coordinate care.

I have been doing home exchange since 1991.  Now, as I prepare to enter my third decade as a home exchanger I am looking at not being able to exchange my home anymore.  I am looking for creative solutions to this.  In the mean time, if you want a perfectly-located swap home in an amazing neighborhood, get in touch before May, 2012!

  1. One thing a friend said to me when we became parents was that nothing ever stays the same. You think you have got everything sorted out but a few weeks or month later life changes again and your carefully laid plans need to be altered.

I think this applies to life generally and so, I think you'll swap again one day and in the meantime I hope you enjoy Manhattan (where we were only last month).
